After back-to-back series losses, Sri Lanka coach Marvan Atapattu resigns

Sri Lanka’s coach Marvan Atapattu on Thursday resigned from his position following the team’s recent Test series losses to Pakistan and India.
Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement that it accepted Atapattu’s resignation.
Atapattu was appointed head coach in October last year and before that he held the positions of interim coach and batting coach.
As interim coach he guided Sri Lanka to a Test series in against England in England and had moderate success in this year’s World Cup.
A former captain Atapattu played 90 Tests, 268 one-day internationala and two Twenty20 internationals.
Sri Lanka lost both the three-match Test series’ to Pakistan and India 2-1.
