India suffered their first loss in the opening T20I against South Africa by seven wickets in Dharamsala on Friday.
After posting 199/5 on the board, thanks to a fantastic 106 from Rohit Sharma, India failed to defend the total as the Proteas chased down the target with three balls remaining.
For the visitors, JP Duminy was the star with a 34-ball 68 and AB de Villiers provided the early onslaught with a fifty as the opening batsman.
Twitterati praised the South Africans for the win but criticised India bowlers, especially spinner Axar Patel for bowling too close.
Impressive win that by the Proteas. #INDvsSA #SSCricket

This is South Africa’s 2nd 200+ chase in T20Is. They had successfully chased 206 against WI at Jo’burg in the 2007 T20WC. #IndvsSA

Brilliant chase from #SA. Ashwin aside, the bowling was quite friendly. Massive stroke of luck for JP too. #IndvsSA

This has been a good cricket pitch…spinners have found turn, Pacers got bounce and batsmen have loved it too. #IndvSA #FreedomSeries
