ACSU chief Sawani’s resignation accepted
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially accepted the resignation of Ravi Sawani, the erstwhile Anti-Corruption & Security Unit (ACSU) chief on Thursday. Sawani had already tendered his resignation in April but the board had asked him to continue till the end of IPL 8.
Sawani will now serve a one-month notice period after it was accepted by board president Jagmohan Dalmiya.
Sawani, who is currently holidaying with his family in Europe, confirmed the developement to The Indian Express through a text message.
“Yes, I have resigned,” he said. However, Sawani hasn’t stated any particular reason for his departure, insisting that it was a personal decision.
There are those in the board who believe that the end of Sawani’s tenure was nigh ever since the new regime came into power at the BCCI headquarters.

Meanwhile, though the board is yet to decide on Sawani’s replacement, it is learnt that Neeraj Kumar, the former commissioner of the Delhi police and the man who led the spot-fixing investigations in 2013 (when three cricketers from Rajasthan Royals, including Test fast bowler S Sreesanth, were arrested for alleged fixing) will be appointed as director of the BCCI’s ACSU.
Kumar is learnt to be BCCI chief Dalmiya’s recommendation on the basis of his impressive record in busting fixing scandals in cricket.
