Rahul Dravid to coach India’s under-19?
Rahul Dravid could just be the next coach of India’s under-19 team, if reports are to be believed. According to ESPNCricinfo, Dravid was approached to join the advisory committee consisting of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly, but the former No.3 wanted a more hands-on role and hence is currently in line to take over the top job of the age-group team.
“He (Dravid) is very much in our scheme of things,” said BCCI chief Jagmohan Dalmiya, speaking to India Today. “We have put a structure in place. We would like Rahul to take up a role. Indian cricket’s restructuring will be incomplete without Rahul Dravid’s contribution.”
Dravid has been the mentor at Rajasthan Royals for the last couple of seasons. He also worked as a consultant during India’s tour of England in 2014. While his name did the rounds as a possible replacement to coach Duncan Fletcher, ESPNCricinfo claims that Dravid ‘has a young family and is not keen on a job that requires incessant travel.’
