Sachin Tendulkar lauds ‘fantastic’ Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis

Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis after the duo won the Wimbledon 2015 women’s doubles final on Saturday.

The Indo-Swiss pair defeated Russians Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 5-7 7-6 (4) 7-5 in a thrilling final at the Centre Court.

Soon after the win, micro-blogging site Twitter was flooded with congratulatory messages with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee leading from the front.

With this win, Sania Mirza has now become the first Indian woman to win a Grand Slam in the women’s doubles category.
