All excited about meeting Pele after more than three decades, Kerala Blasters coach Peter Taylor on Monday became a gushing fan as he recalled the 20 minutes he spent playing against the Brazillian legend way back in 1977.
Pele would be the guest of honour in the ISL match between Kerala and Atletico de Kolkata on Tuesday and Taylor could barely hide his excitement of getting to meet the three-time World Cup winner.

“I’ve actually played against him for 20 minutes. It was my proudest moment. I never got the ball (possession) from him. He was a fantastic player. It would be marvellous that he’s watching the match,” Taylor said in the pre-match press conference.
The 62-year-old recalled Pele turning up for the ‘Rest of the World’ team against an exhibition match against England way back in 1977.
Defending champions ATK coach Antonio Lopez Habas also said the team is looking forward to meet the icon.
“It’s a big moment for Kolkata. Pele is a fantastic idol in world football.”
Pele is on a one-week sojourn in India and will be leaving for Delhi on Tuesday.
