Three DDCA clubs function from same address: Court
A report filed by the Delhi High Court appointed election commission to oversee the polls of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) sports working committee has taken note of a number of irregularities in the functioning of several clubs affiliated to the DDCA.
According to the report three DDCA clubs function from the same address while another changed its name without proper documentation. The report of former judges Babu Lal and GP Thareja, which was accessed by The Indian Express, also mentioned the lack of transparency and sports working committee bias when it comes to recognition of affiliation of cricket clubs.
While trying to ascertain the eligible representatives, who can vote during the sports working committee polls, of 13 clubs, it came to light that three clubs — Youngsters Cricket Club, JN Golden CC and Citizen Cricket Club — had the same address.
The two former judges also highlighted the fact that the DDCA was unable to provide records to show how the name of KG Khosla Cricket Club was changed on more than one occasion and how the bonafide secretary who has the right to vote was identified.
“In order to decide who is the right club whose vote is to be counted by us, we called for the records of DDCA to find out how KG Khosla Cricket Club came to be changed into KN Colts and how KN Colts club became Krishna Nagar Colts Society or Kailash Nagar Colts,” the report states.
“We are sorry to point out that DDCA has not assisted us. We demanded the resolution of the sports committee. We even sent a request to the executive committee of the DDCA through its President. We regret that nothing has been provided to us in original of the documents, which we expected from the DDCA.”
The report of the election commission has stated that “it is unfortunate that a room for suspicion has been created and that the dealings of the sports secretary and convenor of the sports working committee have not been fair.”
