First, kudos to the BCCI for allotting this game to Bangalore. They did it precisely because of AB de Villiers, who would be playing his 100th Test tomorrow. Bangalore is AB’s ‘second home’, thanks to his RCB connection in the IPL. The champion deserved the favour.

After the spin show in Mohali, action now shifts to Bengaluru for the second Test of the four-match series. The series opener was done and dusted inside three days, and going by the past results at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, a result is on the cards.

Out of the 20 Tests played at the venue, 12 have produced results. Interestingly, visiting teams have won six of these contests. Bengaluru has turned out to be a happy hunting ground for visiting teams. May it be Michael Clarke’s hundred on debut or Inzamam-ul-Haq’s ton in his 100th Test, away teams have had their moments at the venue in the last decade.

Asserting the fact that AB de Villiers’ 100th Test will not take the focus away from the second Test, South Africa captain Hashim Amla on Friday said the star batsman will only add to the team’s effort of trying to level the four-match series.

“No it (De Villiers’ 100th Test occasion) does not (distract the focus of the team) … Hopefully, he gets into the park tomorrow (Saturday) and wins the game for us – that will be ideal match for him and us,” Amla said.
