Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen and Australia cricketer James Faulkner once again were involved in a friendly Twitter banter. After Melbourne Stars loss to Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, Faulkner tweeted a photo with Pietersen saying it was a tiring match and if he wanted more leg space in the airplane.
To this, Pietersen responded to the Australian all-rounder that he was meant to be the finisher but he only scored 10 runs off just just 10 balls and he should be thankful to his team that he is being taken back to Melbourne.
Taking a dig at the ‘finisher’ comment, Faulkner joked about Pietersen’s international career. The England was dropped from the national after his team was blanked 5-0 by Australia in the 2013-14 Ashes Down Under. Since then, the ECB has shown no interest in picking him again.
Amid all this, a fan stole the show. Favouring Pietersen, the fan replied to Faulkner’s comment and said that Pietersen at least had a international career while Faulkner has failed to get going at the international stage. Faulkner has played only one Test, 44 ODIs and 11 T20Is for his country while Pietersen has played 104 Tests, 136 ODIs and 37 T20Is for England.
