It wouldn’t have been an ideal situation for India’s leading spinner R Ashwin when he came out to bat in the 73rd over of the innings on Thursday. First the scoreboard read a disappointing 198/7, second he was not able to reach his family in flood-hit Chennai.
The moment he came out to bat, his wife Prithi shot a Tweet and prayed that the offie keeps his strength in the middle.
Thoughts with Ashwin, who is batting right now. We have not heard from his parents in over 24hours. I can only pray he keeps his strength.

In another Tweet, Prithi asked the rescue teams to check “RAMAKRISHNAPURAM 1st Street”, possibly the area where Ashwin’s parents were. After a wait of over 24 hours, there was some good news for the Ashwin family as contact was established. Prithi was happy to share the news, and was all praise for messaging app Whatsapp.
Heard from them. They are fine and safe. Good God. Thank you. I want to hug the person who came up with Whatsapp calls.

Ashwin, who remained unbeaten at the end of day’s play, didn’t say anything about communication with his parents but was not pleased with the price at which milk was sold in the state.
A litre of milk rs 250!!??showing how to balance out the good that happened all over the state yesterday.
