World T20: Ticket registration for India games, semis, final to begin on 25th February
After early hiccups due to final venues for World T20 that resulted in the availability of tickets being delayed, the tickets did go on sale earlier today. But the Indian fans had to wait in queue because only practice matches were available.
Now BCCI has provided more information on booking the more sought after wickets alongside the semi-finals and the final. The tickets will be sold online through a lottery system. It works on the same lines of other big events where individuals state their preferences for the matches and then are put into an automatic draw.
The press release stated, “Considering the demand and in order to ensure a fair opportunity and equal distribution of tickets amongst all the eager fans, limited inventory of tickets for Seven of the highly sought after matches (4 India matches, 2 semi-finals and the final) will be sold online through a unique lottery system.”
BCCI also added a slight caveat for those looking at booking for groups. “Also, to maximise participation, not more than 2 tickets per person can be purchased for any of the India matches, or either of the semi-finals or the final.”
The window for this opens on 25 February and is open only for seven days. The release added: “The window to register will be open for seven days only, starting 25th February 2016.”
India play their first match of the tournament against New Zealand in Nagpur on 15th March. The semi-finals will be played in Delhi and Mumbai on 30th March and 31st March respectively. Final is on 3rd March at Eden Gardens (Kolkata).
