Nothing seems to be going right for Praveen Kumar. Not only has the pacer been out of the Indian team for a while now but he also lost his spot in the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians last week. The troubles have now followed him off the field as well. On Monday, he lost his gold chain, worth Rs 8 lakhs. The incident took place in Nagpur after the one-day game between Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground.

Praveen has now lodged a complaint at a nearby police station in Nagpur. “I came back to dressing room after the match finished and sat on the chair just outside our dressing room. Since it was very hot, I decided to remove my chain and keep it next to my chair. I went inside soon but realised that I had forgotten my chain. I rushed back outside but I couldn’t find it. Somebody had taken it,” Praveen said.

Praveen asked the caterers who were there before quizzing a few Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) officials too, who were present there. Later, he asked for the CCTV footage but to his surprise, there were no CCTV cameras near the dressing room. “I was totally surprised to see there is no CCTV near the dressing room. How can such a big association not have CCTV?

“The chain cost some eight lakhs, mere saath saal ke mehnat ke kamayi thi. It was a chain I bought after I started to do well in Indian cricket. I don’t know who took it but I can’t do anything now other than registering the complaint.. Lagta hai mere chain ko nazar lag gayi” the 28-year-old added.
