ICC World T20: Ticket sale for matches at Mohali begins

The I S Bindra PCA Stadium at Mohali is all set to host Pakistan for its matches against New Zealand and Australia on March 22 and March 25, respectively.

The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) announced the start of the sale of tickets for the three of the six matches to be hosted by it, officials sounded confident of hosting Pakistan with the same kind of hospitality shown during the 2006 Champions Trophy when it played two matches here.

“It’s our privilege to host Pakistan in the group stages of the tournament and the teams have always enjoyed playing at Mohali. We will make special arrangements for Pakistan fans, who have bought tickets online from the ICC website and will apply for the 250 Visas to be issued. There will also be a special hospitality area for them in the stadium. The Pakistan team earlier played in 2006 Champions Trophy and also the semi-final match of 2011 World Cup and we will match those standards,” said GS Walia, Secretary, Punjab Cricket Association while talking with Chandigarh Newsline.

The stadium will host the New Zealand and Ireland women’s cricket match on March 18 followed by Sri Lanka and Ireland women’s match on March 20. Later, the stadium will host the Indian women’s team against West Indies and India against Australia on August 27.

Ticket sales for the matches to be held on March 18, March 20 and March 22 will start on March 10 and PCA has tied up with the Central Bank of India branches in the Tricity. PCA will sell the tickets through its counters apart from Central Bank of India branches.

“A lot of people have been inquiring about the sale of tickets and the sale for the first three matches will start on March 10. We have priced the tickets nominally and fans can expect to enjoy these matches at the stadium. We have renovated the Enclosures at first floor and second floor and we will also make sure that quality food is served in the general stands also. Twenty per cent tickets of these matches have been given to ICC and BCCI for online sale and rest will be sold through counters and to the members of PCA. The dates for the sale of tickets for rest of the matches will be announced later,” added Walia.

While the women’s matches on March 18 and March 20 see the AC Lounge and Pavilion tickets priced at Rs 500, the VIP, North Pavilion and North VIP tickets have been priced at Rs 100. The Chairs block and students block will be priced at Rs 50. The AC Lounge tickets for the Pakistan-New Zealand match have been priced at Rs 400 while the enclosures tickets will be for Rs 5000 and Rs 6000. The terrace block tickets will be for Rs 4000 while VIP Block (Rs 1000), North Pavilion (Rs 1500), North VIP (Rs 750), Chairs Block (200) and Students Block (Rs 100) will also be on sale.

The tickets will be available at gate no 4 and 14 at PCA Stadium (10 a.m to 5 p.m) apart from Central Bank of India branches (Sector 70 Mohali, Sector 15, 17, 32, Chandigarh and Sector 19, Panchkula; 10.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m) from March 10.
