Brief preview

Lord’s, the Mecca of Cricket, will celebrate 200 years of cricket by playing a 50-overs match between Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and Rest of the World (ROW). The two teams are captained by two of the greatest players to play cricket, Sachin Tendulkar captaining the MCC side and Shane Warne captaining the ROW side.

The names of great players don’t stop just there. The likes of Brian Lara, Rahul Dravid, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brett Lee are playing in Tendulkar’s team. Bowlers accompanying Lee would be Shaun Tait, Daniel Vettori, Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal. Chris Read, former England keeper will keep wickets and Australian Aaron Finch is likely to open the batting with Sachin Tendulkar. The only problem with MCC’s side can be the lack of a good finisher. Having said that, everybody will be interested to see Sachin Tendulkar play against Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan and who wins that battle.

If we compare the two sides, ROW’s batting line-up looks more destructive. The likes of Adam Gilchrist, Kevin Pietersen, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Tamim Iqbal and Shahid Afridi can tear apart any bowling line-up. Shane Warne has with him the the most successful Test bowler, Muttiah Muralitharan.

Peter Siddle and Tino Best will handle the pace department. Paul Collingwood can be handy with both, bat and ball. Shahid Afridi, who in the recent years is mostly known for his bowling abilities will be a good asset to the side.It will be an opportunity for the people to see legends take the field once again and an exciting match in prospect as true entertainers will take center stage and old rivalries will reignite.
