The Supreme Court on Friday relieved Sunil Gavaskar of his role as the interim BCCI president to manage the affairs of the Indian Premier League -7, which got over more than a month ago.

A bench led by Justice TS Thakur, however, said that Shivlal Yadav will continue as BCCI interim president in accordance with the March 28 order, whereby N Srinivasan was asked to stay out of the Board’s activities till the probe into the IPL scam was completed. Taking up Gavaskar’s application on clarifying his role after culmination of IPL 7, the bench said that the former Indian skipper was free to pursue other activities.

The court also asked Gavaskar to submit details of reimbursements that he needs to claim from the BCCI for forfeiting his contractual obligation as a commentator during the period.

Srinivasan’s son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan has been charged with corruption during IPL 2013. Both Srinivasan and Meiyappan are being probed by a court-appointed committee headed by retired judge, Justice Mukul Mudgal.
