‘ISL has created a buzz in Italy’
The Delhi Dynamos’ marquee player Alessandro Del Piero reckons the 20-odd days leading to their opening game of the Indian Super League (ISL) will be crucial it terms of acclimatisation and team bonding. On Friday he spoke about playing in India, his time with Juventus. Excerpts:
On the build-up to ISL
ISL is of short duration and the time from now to our opening game will be crucial, and I intend to use the time in trying to know the players, their mentality and understand what the coaching staff wants from us.
On Indian football
The ISL will be a big step, and I hope the league will help Indian football in a big way. The ISL has created a buzz in Italy too as people know that I have signed up.
On Juventu
It is tough leaving Juventus after being associated with them for such a long time. The club was an integral part of my life and I thoroughly enjoyed my association with them. I am still in contact with the players and coaches.
On Juve’s chances
The team is really good and they have already won the first match against Malmao. They are off to a great start…but they have a long road ahead of them. Let’s see what happens.
On his role in Dynamos
It is too early for me to comment on the specifics.
