The Indian cricket team’s bowling coach and fielding coach, Joe Dawes and Trevor Penny, have accepted the BCCI’s offer to terminate their respective contracts, which ran till the end of the World Cup. During the working committee meeting, it was decided to give Dawes and Penny the option of reporting at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore by the last week of October if they were keen to continue with their contracts.

However, by replacing them with Bharat Arun (assistant coach) and R Sridhar (fielding coach), the BCCI had sent out a clear message to Dawes and Penny. “Both Penny and Dawes have accepted the BCCI’s offer and their letter of termination of contract will be sent by next week. As their contract was till World Cup, they will be financially compensated,” a top BCCI official told The Indian Express.

Penny and Dawes were sidelined after India lost the Test series in England 1-3. Arun, Sridhar and Sanjay Bangar (assistant coach) will be attached to the Indian team till the end of the World Cup.
