IPl 8 Match Preview: KXIP vs MI Part-2 – Tables have turned
David Miller’s 42-run knock earned KXIP little glory in their last match.
Kings XI Punjab (lost to DD)
What went Wrong: KXIP’s batting failed once again and the bottom-placed team in the points table lost six wickets inside the first ten overs. KXIP opted for all the four foreign players in the batting order, which meant that their bowling was weak. Their spearhead Mitchell Johnson was on the bench while Sandeep Sharma and debutant Shardul Thakur’s pace wasn’t enough. Even their reliable left-arm spinner Axar Patel could not recreate his magic.
What went Right: David Miller’s 42-run knock. Even though it came at almost run-a-ball.
Mumbai Indians (bt RR)
What Went Right: Ambati Rayadu kept on playing his shots despite the fall of wickets at the other end. Once Rayadu was joined by Kieron Pollard, the duo plundered 61 runs off the last four overs. Also, the fact that MI’s pacers won them the match despite RR being 126/2 in 14.5 overs will give the team added belief.
What went Wrong: Their batting in the middle overs. MI added 77 runs for the loss of three wickets between 5-15 overs. Had Simmons and Rohit Sharma stayed, MI could have scored at a better run-rate.
Conclusion:
Kings XI Punjab thrashed Mumbai Indians the last time these two teams faced each other. But Mumbai have a clear upper hand as they enter the ring for Round 2.
