Sanju Samson, who replaced injured Ambati Rayudu in the Indian squad for the remainder of Zimbabwe tour, said he was happy and excited to don the country’s colours.
“I am very happy and excited that I have been given a chance to play in the Indian team,” Samson told reporters. “The Indian team is the world’s best team. I am very lucky to get a call to play for the country,” he added.
He said Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) president T C Mathew had informed him and congratulated him for his selection to the Indian team.
The wicketkeeper-batsman, who was unaware of his selection, said he was at a loss of words when Mathew congratulated him. “I asked him why I was being congratulated and he told me I had been selected to the Indian team,” said Samson.
The young cricketer was all praise for KCA for giving him all support throughout his cricketing career. Samson plays for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
