A day after the new president of BCCI Shashank Manohar said he won’t be vindictive against N Srinivasan, and also heaped praise on his stint as secretary, Srinivasan withdrew his application of perjury against the current secretary Anurag Thakur after the matter came up for hearing before the Supreme Court on Monday.
While the larger issue of conflict of interest with respect to Srinivasan remains in relation to the transfers of shares of ownership of CSK from the original owners India Cements Ltd to Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd, Monday saw a slight rapprochement on the other issue.

In a plea filed by secretary Anurag Thakur, the BCCI had accused Srinivasan of trying to make a forcible entry into the meeting area on August 28 in Kolkata. However, Thakur’s plea had mistaken Srinivasan for his namesake, a chartered accountant, as a trustee of Chennai Super Kings’ new owners, Srinivasan had filed a perjury case on the BCCI secretary. Both parties have now withdrawn their respective cases on Monday.
On Sunday, Manohar had told the TNCA representative P S Raman to convey his message to Srinivasan about his request to withdraw the perjury case. Moments later, Manohar came to the press conference and praised Srinivasan’s for his tenure as secretary during his presidency. “We are not working here with a vindictive attitude. The entire Board — all 30 members including the Tamil Nadu CA was united that all of us have to work together to build the image of this Board,” Manohar had said after being selected unanimously as the president of BCCI. Manohar had even credited Srinivasan for his tenure as secretary during his presidency. “I can tell you Srinivasan was an excellent secretary, he was better than most of the secretaries I have come across in the Board”.
