Shashank Manohar’s son quits posts

Published on: Sunday, 4 October 2015 //

On a day when his father Shashank Manohar took charge as BCCI president and listed out a series of reforms as part of the clean-up drive, his son Adwait quit his posts in the BCCI’s marketing committee and the legal committee. “Shashank wanted to make sure that no allegations of conflict of interest are levelled against him or his son. That is the reason Adwait quit his post in the marketing and legal committees of the BCCI,” an official said on Sunday.

“Before taking the chair of BCCI president, Manohar had clearly stated that his son would resign from all posts in the BCCI. He (Manohar) doesn’t want any conflict of interest issue especially after he has listed out key points to reform BCCI. Manohar had informed BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur that his son will forward him a resignation letter at the earliest. With his son resigning, Manohar has clearly sent a strong message on his first day itself,” the official added.

Cases set to be withdrawn

Former BCCI president N Srinivasan is likely to withdraw the case in the Supreme Court filed by him against Board secretary Anurag Thakur on allegations of perjury. According to a top BCCI official, Manohar asked BCCI vice-president TC Mathew and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary — two of those whose affidavits were filed to support Srinivasan’s plea — to withdraw the case. The BCCI is also likely to withdraw the petition filed in the SC in which it sought clarity on whether Srinivasan was eligible to attend its meetings.
