Ajay Jadeja’s cricketing career came to an end after being held guilty of match fixing in 2000, but if England Animal Rights activists would have been little cynical, the Indian batsmen could have found himself in legal tangles for taking the lives of two pigeons during one of his knock in the 1999 World Cup.

Chasing a mammoth 282 against Australia, India were reeling at 10/2 when Jadeja came to bat. The right handed scored a decent century but failed to save his side from being virtually knocked out of the tournament as India lost by 77 runs.

While fans mourned India’s exit, there were also some with moist eyes by the end of the game over the death of two pigeons during Jadeja’s knock.

While the first pigeon succumbed after being hit by Jadeja’s hook mid-air, the other one fell victim to a throw from Paul Reiffel who hurled the ball at the stumps while trying to get Jadeja run out.

Neither the pigeon survived nor the Indian team.
