Juventus beat fierce rival AC Milan 3-1 to move 10 points clear at the top of Serie A on Saturday as coach Massimiliano Allegri gained more revenge on his old club.

It was Allegri’s second consecutive win against Milan, which sacked him little more than a year ago.

“We had a good game but after we went ahead we were a bit weak,” Allegri said. “We suffered too much from Milan’s deadball situations. We have to improve that attitude.

“These are three very important points. The lads were good, they really wanted this win. There was no sense of revenge, I’m the coach of Juventus.”

Milan, which has lost four of its past five matches, remained eighth but could take heart from a performance much improved than those of recent weeks.

Carlos Tevez opened the scoring in the 14th minute, and although Luca Antonelli leveled in his first match back at Milan, Leonardo Bonucci restored Juve’s advantage moments later.

Alvaro Morata sealed the result in the 65th as Juventus continued to march toward a fourth successive title.

“It was a good debut for me, but we’re going home with a defeat,” Antonelli said. “In the next match we’ll try to get all three points because the table’s starting to look ugly for us.”

Second-place Roma visits Cagliari on Sunday, while the Parma-Chievo Verona match was postponed to Wednesday because much of northern Italy was covered by a heavy snowfall in recent days.

Earlier, Torino beat Hellas Verona 3-1 for its fourth successive victory.

The Juventus-Milan meetings used to be perceived as significant for the destination of the title but Milan’s slump in recent seasons has lessened the impact.

Tevez, the league top-scorer, netted his 14th goal by beating the offside trap after a poor defensive header from Alex, and surged past Gabriel Paletta.

Antonelli, who signed from Genoa on deadline day, progressed through the ranks at Milan, but made only one senior appearance before signing for Parma in 2008. He marked his return in the 28th minute, rising above everyone to powerfully head a corner inside the far side.

The celebrations did not last long as, seconds after Diego Lopez pulled off a fantastic save to deny Claudio Marchisio, Bonucci fired Juve ahead again after Tevez nodded on a corner.

Juventus extended its advantage when Marchisio’s 30-meter shot crashed off the left upright and Morata slotted in the rebound.

Torino won by the same scoreline, breaking the deadlock in the first half when Josef Martinez took advantage of a defensive error to combine with Fabio Quagliarella and beat Verona goalkeeper Francesco Benussi at the near post.

The visitors doubled their advantage six minutes into the second half after Rafa Marques brought down Martinez, and Quagliarella fired under the bar for his ninth league goal of the season.

Verona gave itself hope when Luca Toni reduced the deficit seven minutes from fulltime, skipping past a poor Kamil Glik tackle before driving into the bottom left corner.

However, Omar El Kaddouri sealed the match in injury time, racing from his own half before slotting into the far corner from just outside the area.
