Instagram goofs up on Spaniard’s account thanks to Barcelona star

This Spaniard learnt it the hard way. Andres Iniesta, a Madrid resident, got a shock when he came to know that his Instagram account was closed without prior notice for ‘infringing the terms of use.’ He shares his name with the famous footballer Andres Iniesta.

Instead of rectifying the error, Instagram restored his account @ainiesta to the soccer star who shares the same name.

“My name is Andrés Iniesta and my only mistake was having the exact name and last name as a famous football player,” he wrote in his post at Medium, a blog-publishing platform.

In a response to Gizmodo, Instagram has acknowledged the fault and said: “We made a mistake here and restored the account as soon as we learned about it. Our apologies go out to Mr. Iniesta for the trouble we caused him.”
