Murali Vijay ruled out of series opener against Sri Lanka at Galle

Murali Vijay has been ruled out of the first Test of the three-match series, starting at Galle on Wednesday. Vijay will miss the first Test with a hamstring strain, Team Director Ravi Shastri announced in Colombo on Monday.

The right-hander picked up the niggle during recently concluded tour of Zimbabwe. Vijay didn’t come out to bat in both the innings of the tour game against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI, and the team management wants to ensure that the niggle is not further aggravated.
