Arsenal may not be the most successful side in the English Premier League but it may be the most popular as far as micro-blogging site Twitter is concerned.

The Gunners have 6.1 million followers on Twitter and are closely followed by London giants Chelsea who have 5.9 million followers.

Surprisingly, Manchester United is third on the list with 5.7 million followers.

Liverpool and Manchester City have 4.6 and 2.6 million followers respectively.

The brand new season of EPL kicks off on Saturday with Manchester United taking on Tottenham Hotspur.
